Giving Back
We are thankful for the following organizations for the work that they do and for giving us the opportunity to serve as volunteers in the spirit of their cause.

Anthony Wayne Society
Membership in the Anthony Wayne Society is open to donors who support designated funds at any of the schools or colleges, as well as those who contribute unrestricted gifts to support the area of greatest need for Wayne State University.
HPC donates each year to the Wayne State University School of Nursing through the Anthony Wayne Society. We were inducted into the Anthony Wayne Society as an honorary member in 2014.

SAY Clinic and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries
Handmade quilted blankets were made and donated to the SAY clinic by an anonymous donor.
The donor asked Health Providers Choice to deliver them to the SAY clinic, a free clinic that provides uninsured and homeless women and children with healthcare services. On top of this donation, many of our nurses have volunteered their time as healthcare professionals to The SAY Clinic and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.

Nurses 4 Detroit
Health Providers Choice is a sponsor for the nonprofit organization, Nurses 4 Detroit.
HPC has been involved with developing a wonderful movement in the City of Detroit that assists those who need medical care and guidance. As nurses we are uniquely prepared to handle care holistically and compassionately. HPC‘s nurses and administration staff who are in and around the Detroit area have volunteered with N4D working through SAY clinic and Mitch Albom charities, Wayne State University and other organizations, in alignment with the goal to bring the city back to its original luster. Most recently, HPC and some of the N4D nurses provided the medical care for the volunteers at Life Remodeled Detroit.

Mitch Albom: The 100 Houses Project
The City of Detroit has countless homes within its streets that are abandoned. These homes can be a danger to the children who walk to and from school each day, passing these houses that are subject to becoming hiding places, drug houses and many other potential threats to the people in these areas.
The board up of these homes happened on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, right before Halloween. The goal was to provide the children living in the Detroit area with a safer environment for trick-or-treating. The HPC staff, in combination with Nurses 4 Detroit, volunteered their time to assist The 100 Houses Project with the board up of over 100 abandoned homes in a single day. Volunteers came together and helped insure that these areas of Detroit would be a little safer for the kids to enjoy some Halloween fun.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation funds research and drug development for the disease with a mission of curing cystic fibrosis and helping those who have it live full-filling lives. Health Providers Choice contributes to their mission of finding a cure by making yearly donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Friends for Foster Kids
Every year Health Providers Choice has participated in giving foster children the joy of Christmas by volunteering hands on with the nonprofit organization Friends for Foster Kids.
The individuals in the office come together to provide these children with a Christmas holiday they might otherwise not have had. Each year during the holidays, HPC buys and delivers gifts to the organization to be distributed to the kids. The gifts include necessities from clothes and shoes to toys and books.

Life Remodeled
Health Providers Choice volunteered for local charity Life Remodeled Detroit on their community projects in 2013 & 2014. Life Remodeled invests in one Detroit neighborhood each year to remodel community assets, repair homes, and gather volunteers to clean up city blocks. HPC and Nurses 4 Detroit partnered to provide first aid supplies and care to volunteers at the Life Remodeled events in 2013 & 2014.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure has become the largest breast cancer event in Michigan.
All proceeds that are raised each year are given to local breast cancer screening, breast cancer research grants, and support and educational programs for those struggling with breast cancer in low-income circumstances. The members of Health Providers Choice and their families helped raise donations and participated in the 21st annual Detroit Komen Race for the Cure on May 26, 2012.
